Effective Altruism Intro Program

The Effective Altruism Intro Program is a comprehensive and rewarding 4-week program starting in late January. Every week consists of reading and small group discussions on themes like effective career choices, empathy, AI safety, and existential risks.

Lunches

Join our Weekly Lunches at Kipsari Väre every Friday at 11:30.
You can have a meaningful discussion over your salad or just chill with friends.

TEA Tuesdays

Topical Effective Altruism events (TEA Tuesdays) are discussion events where you can enjoy a cup of tea and engage in thought-provoking conversations about EA. They are held semi-regularly on Tuesdays at 18:00 at Space 21 in Aalto.

These volunteer-led discussions cover a wide range of EA-related topics, and participants from all backgrounds and levels of experience are welcome. Whether you're a seasoned EA enthusiast or just curious to learn more about this field, TEA Tuesdays offer a welcoming and engaging space to share ideas, ask questions, and explore new perspectives. Don't miss out on the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals and broaden your understanding of how we can make a positive impact on the world.

Acknowledgements

Aalto University’s Space 21 is our main venue for events, and it also provides snacks for some sessions. During 2025, we hosted three cohorts of our 5-week EA Intro Program, two multi-week reading groups, Movie Nights and Estimation Games, TEA Tuesdays, and a number of co-working sessions and meetings in Space 21. Overall, we spent roughly 10 productive hours per week there.

The Center for Effective Altruism provides the funding and support that make our operations possible.

EA Finland supports us by making the Intro Programs possible, supporting the board, and providing key resources.

AYY contributes additional funding.

    Hey, I’m Okko, a Master’s student in ML/AI at Aalto. I’m interested in working on technical AI safety, especially the massive challenges with superintelligent systems. I’m also into rationality, utilitarian ethics, and economics as tools for thinking clearly about high-stakes decisions. In my free time, I like running, playing games, and watching YouTube videos containing useless information. Let’s fight multipolar traps!
