Thinking about the next step in your career path?

Come to value-oriented career advising

  • Because time is your most valuable resource.

A large part of waking hours is spent on work and study. By influencing the world through your work, you can spend your time in accordance with your values. It is therefore worth investing in career planning.

  • Because career planning is easily forgotten in the midst of everyday life.

By making an appointment for career counselling, you are one step closer to a carefully thought-out career plan.

  • Because new perspectives are valuable.

All of our career advisors are volunteers interested in effective altruism who have undergone training. We will help you find new perspectives on your career questions and provide you with tools to find out how you can do as much good as possible through your work.

What is career advising?

Our career advice is value-driven and tailored to your needs. We usually start with a one-hour meeting to discuss your current situation, career and values issues, and how to move forward in the direction you want to go. You can attend as many counselling sessions as you like, and talk to our different counsellors to get a variety of different perspectives on your situation.

Career advising is organized by Effective Altruism Finland and we are particularly interested in helping you increase your impact as much as possible through your career. However, the advising is always based on your values, life situation and interest.

Our career advice is free and we can provide it according to the capacity of our volunteers. At the moment we have plenty of space, so feel free to sign up for an appointment!

To whom and when?

We recommend career advising especially for students, recent graduates and those thinking about a career change, but you can also benefit from our advice in other life situations.

Discussion topics in the career advising may include, for example:

  • How can I develop career capital during my studies to help me get my dream job when I graduate?

  • What should I consider when thinking about my next career step?

  • Where to start with career planning?

  • Should I continue in my current job or consider a career change?

  • What are my values?

  • How do my values affect what kind of career decisions I make?

Regardless of whether you want to get reassurance about your current plans or are making a career plan for the first time and don't know where to start, feel free to contact us!

Are you interested in career guidance but don't know where to start? Are you unsure if career guidance is right for you, or do you find it difficult to fill in the application form?

Now you can book an appointment for a quick consultation instead of filling in a form! Choose a time that works for you on Calendly and come to Google Meetings at the time you want. Vesa and Karla will help you get started on your career planning with a 15-minute chat.
